Installation

This document is based on the original INSTALL document shipped with CYBIS. Because the vast majority of the document is no longer applicable to the current distribution, only the relevant items are excerpted here. This release, is the final release of PLATO/CYBIS R99A.

The PLATO system relied on and was configured for a subset of the available hardware. The table below shows which of those devices were supported - Nothing has change between R44 and R99A except for the support of PLATO on a CYBER 180-875 on which the development system now resides:

Installation Preparation

This section describes how to install the PLATO application for the first time.

The following information will be required during the installation procedures:

The following is a list of the steps to be taken to install the PLATO application. Each of these steps is discussed in detail in the following sections.

  1. Determine disk system configuration.

  2. Create PLATO system user name(s).
