PLATO Installation (dtcyber)

Learning Path

This learning path teaches you how to install a fully-functional instance of PLATO 1).

You are encouraged to keep this pathway open in a separate browser window and follow along the learning path in the order suggested.

Overview

In preparation for Cybis Release 2, several issues had to be addressed in preparation for delivery of a release that is as close to a “production worthy” instance as possible. The network enhancements introduced into dcCyber were terrific, but insufficient in overcoming the barriers to production.

I only need a minimal PLATO system so I can learn on my own.

Time needed: (30 to 60 minutes)

This results in a system that contains:

  • Minimal Original Build Procedures

  • Streamlined / Enhanced Build Procedures

Objectives

  1. support for 128 Public-Facing CYBIS terminals
  2. support for a private bank of terminals (behind the firewall)
  3. enabling the proper build procedures through lesson s0maint
  4. completing the conversion to a fully-supported PLATO node with Remote Host Protocol

Requirements

  1. You must be running on dtCyber 5.7.57 or greater which supports the objectives above. This tutorial is built upon that base.
  2. If you have a previous installation of Cybis Release 1 and have modified any files, you are encouraged to perform a completely fresh installation (as shown in this tutorial) in a separate location and then import the needed files into the new installation after the fact.
  3. Optional if you are a user of any of the supported packages, you should consider installing the latest release of CDC.IO to expedite the process of detecting and moving files from your old installation to the new installation.
