FILE CMS EDIT subcommand Use the FILE subcommand to write the edited file on disk and, optionally, override the file identifier originally supplied in the EDIT command. The format of the FILE subcommand is: +----------+------------------------------------------------------------------+ | FILE | [fn [ft [fm]]] | +----------+------------------------------------------------------------------+ where: fn is the filename for the file. If filename is omitted, filetype and filemode cannot be specified, and the existing filename, filetype, and filemode are used. ft indicates the filetype for the file. fm indicates the filemode for the file. Usage Notes: 1. When you specify a file identifier, any existing file that has an identical fileid is replaced. If the file being edited has been previously written to disk, that copy of the file is not altered. 2. You can change the filename and filemode during the editing session using the FNAME and FMODE subcommands. Responses: The CMS ready message indicates that the file has been written to disk and control is returned to the CMS environment.
